History and History-Social Sciences Education students at ISU have access to an advisement staff well-versed in professional issues as well as degree requirements. Dan Stump advises majors and minors whose last name begins with A-G; Fred Walk advises majors and minors whose last name begins with H-M; and Ron Gifford advises majors and minors whose last name begins with N-Z.
Majors should see their academic advisor at least once each semester. Although the student is ultimately responsible for seeing that all academic requirements are met, the guidance of an advisor can greatly reduce the possibility of errors.
Career opportunities other than teaching for our students are numerous and varied. As students sometimes have difficulty identifying a direction that suits their interests, they can seek guidance and information from any of our advisors about the various career opportunities available for our majors. In addition, the Career Counseling Center in the Student Services Building can be of assistance.
